Virginia sophomore Morgan Brian will get the chance to represent the United States at the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup later this month in Japan.
Brian, a midfielder, finished second on the Cavaliers with 30 points (11 goals and eight assists) as a freshman at Virginia in 2011. She was named to the US U-20 team on Thursday.
Team USA is coached by Virginia head coach Steve Swanson. Two other Cavaliers -- sophomore defender Olivia Brannon and incoming freshman forward Makenzy Doniak -- were named alternates to the team.
The US will compete in Group D at the U-20 Women's World Cup, with the Americans opening play in Hiroshima against Ghana on August 20. The US will then face China on August 23, and Germany on August 27.
