The Virginia baseball team ended a four-game losing skid Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of Duke. The No. 25 Cavaliers dropped the series opener Friday before routing the Blue Devils 12-3 and 10-3 on Saturday.
Stephen Bruno extended his hitting streak to 13 games tallying 7 hits in two games. Bruno went 5-for-6 in the first game and 2-for-3 with a home run in game two. All of Virginia's starters had at least one hit in the second game.
Artie Lewicki (2-2) earned the win to cap off the day, pitching seven strong innings for the Cavaliers. He gave up three runs (two earned), six hits and one walk, while striking out one.
Bruno got the Cavaliers on the board in game two with a first-inning homer but both games were won in the middle frames. Virginia scored eight runs over the fifth and sixth innings to break open game two, while the Hoos scored nine runs in the fifth and sixth innings in game one.
Virginia (26-14-1, 11-10 ACC) clinched its fourth ACC series win of the season. They return home on Tuesday night to host Radford at 6 p.m.
