Cavaliers Can't Keep Up With Ducks

The Virginia football team turned the ball over four times, including three interceptions by quarterback David Watford, as Oregon routed UVa 59-10 Saturday at Scott Stadium.

Late in the first quarter, junior running back Khalek Shepherd got the Cavaliers on the board with a 45-yard touchdown run, cutting the Oregon lead to 21-7.

The Ducks answered with a Marcus Mariota 30-yard passing touchdown to Bralon Addison in the second quarter. UVa added 3 on an Ian Frye 37-yard field goal with 2:04 left in the first half to make it 28-10, but that was the last time the 'Hoos scored.

Watford finished 29-of-41 with 161 yards, throwing three interceptions and no touchdowns. Redshirt freshman quarterback Greyson Lambert entered the game in the fourth quarter, completing 2-of-6 passes for 13 yards.

Junior running back Kevin Parks ran for 60 yards on 19 carries, while Shepherd had 46 yards on 4 carries and a touchdown.

Marcus Mariota threw for 199 yards and ran for 122, while junior running back De'Anthony Thomas had 124 yards and three touchdowns for the Ducks.

The Cavaliers fall to 1-1 on the season heading into their first bye week. Next up, UVa will face VMI Sept. 21 at Scott Stadium.
