Unbeaten Virginia is the new No. 1 team in the country, according to at least one national women's soccer poll.
The website TopDrawerSoccer.com bumped the Cavaliers into the top spot of its latest weekly poll, released on Monday. The Cavaliers were ranked second in the poll last week.
North Carolina spent the season's first four weeks atop the poll, but dropped a spot to No. 2 following Sunday's 1-0 loss at home to Notre Dame.
UVa improved to 7-0 on the season -- the Cavaliers haven't even allowed a goal since August 30 -- with last Thursday's 3-0 win at Klöckner Stadium over Syracuse, in the ACC opener for both teams. All seven of Virginia's wins have come at home, but the Cavaliers' next three games are all on the road, starting with Thursday's visit to Boston College.
