The Virginia men's basketball team has been picked to finish seventh in the ACC this season, according to the league's first-ever poll of its 12 head coaches.
North Carolina State is the preseason favorite to win the conference according to the coaches' poll, released on Monday. The Wolfpack, which has four starters back from last year's Sweet 16 team, received eight first-place votes in the poll.
NC State junior forward CJ Leslie was voted the league's preseason player of the year, while Wolfpack guard Rodney Purvis was named the preseason freshman of the year.
Virginia is coming off a 22-10 season that included the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2007. The Cavaliers finished the regular season tied for fourth in the ACC with a 9-7 conference record.
