Apparently the media that covers ACC men's basketball agrees with the league's coaches when it comes to Tony Bennett's basketball team this season.
Bennett's Cavaliers were picked to finish seventh in the league in 2012-13, according to the annual preseason media poll released Wednesday. On Monday, the ACC's coaches -- who were polled for the first time this year -- also picked Virginia to finish seventh.
North Carolina State was picked as the preseason ACC favorite in the media poll, just like in Monday's coaches' poll. It's the first time the Wolfpack was picked first in the league since 1974, and the second time in 16 years a team other than Duke or North Carolina was favored to win the conference.
NC State junior CJ Leslie was voted the preseason ACC player of the year, and Wolfpack freshman guard Rodney Purvis was the preseason rookie of the year.
Virginia is coming off a 22-10 season that included the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2007. The Cavaliers finished the regular season tied for fourth in the ACC with a 9-7 conference record.
