Construction Forces UVa to Relocate Open Football Practices

Construction of the new indoor practice facility at the McCue Center is forcing the Virginia football team to move next week's open practices.

The school announced Tuesday that next week's practices will be held at The Park, the intramural fields located on Massie Road. Practices will be open to the public, free of charge, next Monday through Friday. Practice is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. on Monday, and at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

The football team will also hold an open practice at Scott Stadium on Saturday, August 11. That practice will begin at 4 p.m.

The steel skeleton for the new, 78,000-foot practice facility began going up last week. The $13 million project is expected to be completed next spring, in time for the football team's spring camp.
