After just three short months on grounds, Greyson Lambert made his debut at Scott Stadium Saturday for the Orange and Blue spring football game. The first-year quarterback enrolled in January and spent all of spring training learning what he could about college football.
"I'm really happy that I came in," said Lambert of his decision to enroll early. "Going through these 15 practices, it's been a lot to take in but I've also gotten a lot of good things out of it."
On Saturday, Lambert made his first appearance with the Blue team on the opening possession of the second half. He completed four passes during the drive and finished it with a game-tying 13-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Parks. Overall for the day, Lambert was 8-of-15 with 75 passing yards and a touchdown.
"It was hard at first, everyone knows the speed is a little different," he said after the game." But you get used to it and it's a lot of fun whenever you're actually able to complete a pass, or you know what you're doing on this play, and you can actually go through the progression like you're supposed to."
Head Coach Mike London has commented all spring training on the improvement of Lambert and after the Orange-Blue game, his confidence only grew.
"I think he's very mature," said the third-year Virginia head coach. "You're talking about a guy, when we say young, I mean in the next couple of weeks he's going to his senior prom -- high school senior prom. So, he found the library, now he's moving on to the next step. Like I said, he'll be a good player here."
