Western Albemarle senior Hayes Fountain says it's been his dream to play soccer at UVa for as long as he can remember, and now that dream is a reality.
Tuesday, the Warriors midfielder and defender signed his letter of intent to join the Virginia soccer team, after being verbally committed to the "Hoos since the summer of 2011.
"I knew where I wanted to go from day one. I mean I'd watched the Virginia guys play at Klockner since I was 8, or 7 years old so I decided I wanted to go there and I just kept working, trying to get there," Fountain says of fulfilling his dream.
Fountain says he immediately accepted Virgina's offer. "Coach Gelnovatch actually was the one who said like, 'slow down, go home and sleep on it and come back, you can tell me tomorrow if you're ready.' He was like, 'take a look. You're not going to find anything better than what we've got, but you might as well look around.'"
