Four Cavaliers Headed to Finland, World Lacrosse Championships

A quartet of Cavaliers will be part of the United States' effort to defend its title at the Federation of International Lacrosse Under-19 World Championship this month in Finland.

Virginia has four players -- the most of any university -- on the 23-man US roster for the tournament, which begins Thursday. The Americans open pool play against Australia at 12 p.m. Friday.

Rising sophomore midfielder Ryan Tucker leads the Cavalier contingent. Tucker appeared in all 16 games for Virginia as a freshman last spring, finishing seventh on the team with 13 goals.

The US roster includes two more rising Virginia sophomores -- long stick midfielder Tanner Ottenbreit and defenseman Greg Danseglio -- as well as incoming freshman midfielder Matt Florence. Danseglio appeared in 14 games, and started one, as a freshman this spring, while Ottenbreit played in five games.
