Gill "Ready as Ever" After Sitting Last Season

The long wait for Anthony Gill is almost over.

Forced to sit out last season after transferring to Virginia from South Carolina, Gill is ready to make his mark on a UVa team with high expectations.

"I'm ready. Ready as I'll ever be," Gill said recently. "It's an exciting time for Virginia basketball and I'm really glad I could be a part of it.

Though he was glued to the bench on gameday, Gill was able to practice with the team and learn Tony Bennett's system last year.

That should enable the 6-8 forward to make an immediate mark in the Cavalier frontcourt and add even more depth to an already deep roster.

"For me being the first time I can actually be a part of the team for real, it'll be great just to see all the guys together and just get to work. It'll be fun," he said.

Gill averaged nearly eight points and five rebounds in his lone season as a Gamecock and his addition to the Cavaliers has been touted as one to watch this season in college basketball.

Gill and his new teammates will tip off the season November 8th when they welcome in-state foe James Madison over the mountain to John Paul Jones Arena.
