Joe Harris and Akil Mitchell are once again healthy as their final season of basketball at Virginia approaches.
Jeff White of VirginiaSports.com recently wrote a feature story on the two seniors, the only two remaining players from Tony Bennett's original recruiting class. In that article, White revealed that both players have recovered from their summer setbacks.
Harris was an All-ACC first-team selection last season, scoring a team-high 16.3 points per game and adding 4.0 rebounds per game. That performance earned Harris an invitation to try out for USA Basketball's World University Games team that competed in Russia this summer. But Harris was sent home from that camp in late June because of a foot injury.
Mitchell broke his right hand while participating in the LeBron James Skills Academy in early July. The 6-8 forward was a third-team All-ACC pick after finishing second on the Cavaliers in scoring (13.1 ppg) and leading the team in rebounds (8.9 rpg).
Harris and Mitchell are two of the four starters returning for UVa from last year's team that won 23 games and reached the NIT quarterfinals.
