Help on the Way for UVa Defense at Miami

The Virginia defense may be getting some reinforcements for Saturday's game at Miami.

The injury report released by the team on Thursday included senior defensive tackle Brent Urban and sophomore cornerback Maurice Canady both listed as "probable" for Saturday's game. Both players have missed multiple weeks with injuries.

Coach Mike London said prior to the released of the injury report on Thursday that both players have been practicing this week -- "and they looked good," London added -- and will travel to Miami.

Urban has been out since getting injured in the first half of UVa's loss at Maryland on October 12. Despite missing four games, Urban still leads the defense with eight pass break-ups, and third on the team defense with 7.5 tackles for a loss.

Canady is tied for second on the team with six pass break-ups, and second among defensive backs with 38 total tackles. He's been sidelined for the Cavaliers' last three games.

Both players have started every game they've appeared in this season, and on Thursday London called them "two of the better players on your defense."

"It's always important to get guys that have been in the game, and have done things significantly for you," London said. "So having them back obviously is a big boost for us. For the confidence level. Not only for them to be back and be able to play and perform, but just the whole operation of the defense."

A pair of true freshmen -- corner Tim Harris and lineman Donte Wilkins -- have been starting in place of Canady and Urban.
