'Hoos Begin Conference Play With Pitt

The final two weeks of the non-conference schedule provided a confidence boost for the UVa women's basketball team, who won four out of their last five games to close out the month of December.

"It's funny, you come off of a couple of games like that and we come into practice and we can't miss a shot," said head coach Joanne Boyle. "They just take a deep breath and they see that they can play on both ends of the floor. They like the lineups and rotations and we're trying to figure out our identity, and I feel more confident than I did two weeks ago about going into ACC play."

The Cavaliers will host Pitt in the Panther's first-ever ACC road game on Sunday at 2 p.m. UVa has a 7-6 overall record, while Pitt comes in at 8-7, and 0-1 in the ACC after falling to No. 21 Florida State.

After some tough losses early in the season, the Cavaliers say they've settled into their roles and are ready to get started in the ACC.

"I feel like people have accepted the roles that they're playing now, and I feel like it has really helped our team," says junior forward Sarah Imovbioh. "It's going to be tough and we know we've got to bring our "A" game. We're just ready."

Senior guard Kelsey Wolfe adds that the Cavs like where they are as conference play begins. "I think we're definitely happy, especially ending with our tournament like we did, winning two wins against great teams how we did."
