The UVa basketball team won their 19th home game in a row with a 68-50 victory against St. John's in the second round of the NIT on Sunday.
Three freshman scored in double figures for the Cavaliers, led by Justin Anderson, who had 18 points and made 9-of-10 free throws on the day.
Taylor Barnette scored 13 for Virginia and Mike Tobey added 10 points. Junior Akil Mitchell was one rebound away from a double-double, finishing with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
The Cavaliers used a 20-3 run in the first half to build a 13 point lead, and led by 11 points at the half. In the second half, St. John's cut the lead to 7 before Anderson hit a 3-pointer that started a 14-4 Cavalier run.
UVa will host Iowa in the quarterfinals Wednesday night, with the winner earning a chance to move on to Madison Square Garden in New York.
