'Hoos Score Nine in Fourth in Rout of JMU

The Virginia baseball team opened its nine-game homestand in a big way Wednesday night.

The Cavaliers put up nine runs in the bottom of the fourth, on their way to a 15-5 win Wednesday at Davenport Field. Virginia has now won 11 straight games at home.

Virginia erased a 2-1 deficit with the nine-run outburst, which included a two-run home run by junior Colin Harrington - the first of his college career - and a three-run shot by senior Jared King.

King finished the night 1-1 with four runs scored, while Harrington went 3-4 with four RBI. Freshmen Branden Cogswell and Derek Fisher had two hits apiece, including Fisher's ACC-leading seventh triple of the season.

The Cavaliers are now 19-10-1 on the season, while the banged-up Dukes fell to 6-22-1. JMU has dropped 17 of its last 18 games overall.

Virginia also clinched the three-game season series with JMU with the win. UVa also beat the Dukes 14-6 in Harrisonburg on March 6, and the two teams played to a rain-shortened 4-4 tie in South Carolina on February 18.
