The Virginia baseball team used a huge third inning to throttle VMI, 12-3, Wednesday at Davenport Field.

The Wahoos scored eight runs on seven hits in the frame, the first ten Cavs reaching base safely.

Chris Taylor finished 4-for-4 with three doubles and Mike Papi was 3-for-3.

Barrett O'Neil got the win for Virginia, going five innings, giving up two earned runs on six hits, with a walk and three strikeouts.

Virginia struck in the first and took a quick 2-0 lead. After a lead-off double from Chris Taylor, Mike Papi singled to right to score Taylor and then Nate Irving later added a bases-loaded walk to account for the runs.

The Keydets tied it in the second but Virginia blew it open in the third.
