Former Virginia pitcher Danny Hultzen earned Double-A Southern League Pitcher of the Week honors after winning both starts for the Jackson Generals between April 19 and April 25. Hultzen threw 12 scoreless innings and allowed four hits, while walking five batters and striking out 10.

On Sunday, Hultzen made his fifth start (2-2, 2.05) against the Tennesse Smokies, striking out two of the first three batters faced and four total in 4.2 innings. Hultzen allowed five hits and one earned run in the no-decision effort.

Overall, the former Cavalier has pitched 26.1 innings, allowed 14 hits and six earned runs. His 2.05 ERA is currently sixth in the Southern League. He also has 30 strikeouts to just 12 walks.

The Generals are 17-8 this season and in first place in the Southern League North Division.

Hultzen was Seattle's first-round pick, No. 2 overall and is the second-best prospect in the organization. He's No. 16 on the overall Top 100.
