Former Virginia lefty Danny Hultzen has been named to the roster for Team USA in next month's MLB Futures Game in Kansas City.
The 14th annual exhibition, part of baseball's All-Star Game festivities, features some of the top minor league prospects in the sport. This year's Futures Game is scheduled for July 8 at 5 p.m.
Hultzen will be representing the Seattle Mariners organization in the game. He's currently 8-3 with a 1.19 ERA in his first pro season, and was promoted to the Mariners' Triple-A team in Tacoma earlier this week.
Seattle selected Hultzen with the second overall pick in the 2011 draft. The pitching staff for Team USA will feature the top four picks from last year's draft -- Gerrit Cole (Pirates), Hultzen, Trevor Bauer (Diamondbacks), and Dylan Bundy (Orioles).
