Sarah Imovbioh's career at Virginia has gotten off to a fast start. Five games in, the sophomore forward is leading the 4-1 'Hoos in scoring, with 15.0 points per game, and rebounding, with 7.8 rebounds per game.

The former St. Anne's-Belfield standout was forced to sit out her freshman season because she was ruled ineligible by the NCAA.

Because of the eligibility issue, Imovbioh has been waiting to get back on the court, but even she didn't expect to make such a big impact so quickly.

"Actually I didn't, I just felt like I needed to step up and help my team, and I found myself in that position so I just used the opportunity," she said. "I just felt like during the off-season I really worked hard on my game, but I didn't expect it to start showing this early in the season."

Imovbioh was inserted into the starting lineup because of a stress fracture in the left shin of senior Simone Egwu.

"She got put in the starting rotation, and she has just earned her spot starting," says head coach Joanne Boyle. "She's done a great job for us on the boards, and she's done a great job in transition for us.

"She's still really learning the game, I means she's still very raw, but what she's bringing to the table at this point in the game, I don't know that I would have expected it, but it's a pleasant surprise."
