Former Virginia golfer Ben Kohles made the cut in his first career PGA tournament Friday.
Kohles finished Friday's second roun -3 for the day, good to put him at -1 after 36 holes, barely qualifying him for the cut.
Kohles is making his PGA debut at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro this week. He received a sponsor's exemption for the tournament after recently winning his first two pro starts on the Web.com Tour.
Kohles started the day with a birdie on two, followed by back-to-back bogeys to drop him to +3 overall. He would bounce back, however, and birdie three of the next five to stand at -2 after the front nine.
He was at even par through 14, needing to shave one more stroke to make the cut. He got that stroke back on the very next hole and hung on from there to finish with a 67 on the day and advance to Saturday's play.
Kohles shot an opening-round 72 on Thursday.
