Former Virginia tailback Kye Morgan has transferred to Stony Brook University, the school announced Wednesday.

Morgan, who will have three years of eligibility remaining, will play safety for the Seawolves.

Morgan began his career at UVa as a redshirt in 2012. Last season, he saw action in two games as a running back, playing against No. 2 Oregon and VMI.

Following spring practice, Morgan was listed as the Cavaliers' fourth-string running back.

"Kye is going to have an immediate impact in this program," Stony Brook head coach Chuck Priore said. "He will add a different dimension to our secondary with his speed and athleticism."

Morgan was a 4,000-yard rusher at Franklin High School in New Jersey. He was the 18th ranked player in the state as a senior in 2011 by Rivals.com.
