Linebacker recruit LaChaston Smith is getting an early start on his Virginia football career.
The school announced on Monday, the first day of classes for the spring semester, that Smith had enrolled at Virginia. By enrolling early, Smith will be eligible to participate in spring practices.
Smith, who attended South Iredell High School in North Carolina, is regarded as a three-star recruit by both Rivals and 247Sports, and a four-star recruit by ESPN. He was an all-conference selection as both a sophomore and junior, but missed most of his senior year because of a leg injury.
Other early enrollees at Virginia in recent seasons include quarterback David Watford and linebacker Daquan Romero two years ago, and quarterback Greyson Lambert last spring.
