Midfielder Chris LaPierre is the latest Virginia lacrosse player to have his name called early in the Major League Lacrosse draft.
LaPierre, a two-time all-ACC selection who will play his senior season at Virginia this spring, was taken second overall by the Hamilton Nationals in Friday's draft.
He's the 16th Cavalier taken in the first round of the MLL draft all-time, and the second straight Virginia player to be taken with the No. 2 overall pick. Steele Stanwick was taken by the Ohio Machine with the second overall pick in 2012.
Fellow Virginia senior Matt White was picked 28th overall by the Charlotte Hounds. White had 16 goals and 15 assists in 2012.
