The Virginia women's basketball team closed out the game on a 21-4 run to pull away from Coppin State Tuesday night, and avoid a third straight loss.
The Cavaliers trailed by as many as seven points in the fourth quarter, before rallying for a 54-44 win at home to improve to 6-3. It was Virginia's first game after an 11-day layoff for final exams.
Kelsey Wolfe finished with a game-high 14 points for Virginia, including a pair of three-pointers on back-to-back possessions in the final two minutes to help the Cavaliers pull away. Eleven of Wolfe's 14 points came in the game's final eight minutes.
Charlottesville High School graduate Shawntae Payne scored eight points off the bench for Coppin State, which fell to 3-7 with a fifth straight loss. Leola Spotwood finished with 10 points to lead the Eagles.
