Moorer, Franklin Earn All-ACC Honors

Virginia's Ariana Moorer and Ataira Franklin earned All-ACC honors, announced Tuesday by conference officials. Moorer was named to the second team while Franklin was selected for the honorable mention squad.

A senior guard, Moorer leads the team in scoring and ranks ninth in the ACC, averaging 13.8 points per game. She is also the Cavaliers active career leader in points with 1, 194 to date. Moorer surpassed 1,000 points on January 12, 2012 against Virginia Tech. The captain has scored 20 or more points in four games this season and has had two double-double performances. She is also ranked third in the ACC in steals, as part of a Virginia defense that leads the conference in scoring defense (53.3 points per game).

Franklin, a sophomore guard, is second behind Moorer in points scored this season averaging more than 12 points per game. She leads the team in three-pointers made with 40 this season. Franklin was an All-ACC Freshman Team selection last year.

Sixth seed Virginia will compete in the first round of the ACC Tournament Thursday night when they meet No. 11 Boston College at 8 p.m. in Greensboro, N.C.
