Senior Julie Gardner scored a career-high six goals Friday, leading fourth-ranked and No. 11 Virginia to a 13-8 victory over Boston College. The No. 17 Eagles were seeded fifth in the tournament and fall to 8-8 this season while Virginia improves to 11-5.
The Cavaliers will meet top seed North Carolina, ranked No. 3 in the nation, at 1 p.m. Saturday in the semifinals. The game will televised by the ACC's Regional Sports Networks and that broadcast will be available online through ESPN3.
Gardner scored her 100th goal of her career against the Eagles and also added an assist for career-high seven point game. Teammate Josie Owen reached the same milestone in a regular season game at Virginia Tech. Goalie Kim Kolarik also had a career-high day with 11 saves and four ground balls.
