The No. 19 Virginia Men's Basketball team fell on the road to No. 5 North Carolina, 70-53, Saturday afternoon.
Mike Scott led the Cavaliers with 18 points and Jontel Evans added 12.
The Tar Heels size and depth was a factor in the game, as the Heels ended up with a plus-20 rebound advantage and drew numerous fouls on UVa interior players.
Virginia went on a 13-3 run midway through the first half to take a 16-13 lead but Scott picked up his second foul soon after and sat for the rest of the half. UVa was undeterred, however, as Evans fueled another 11-2 run and Virginia led 27-20 with just under three minutes in the half.
But Carolina took advantage of Scott on the bench and outscored the Hoos 15-5 the rest of the half to take a 35-32 lead into the locker room.
Scott then picked up his third foul three minutes into the second half but Joe Harris connected on a couple three-pointers and UVa led 41-39 with just under sixteen to go.
The Heels would start to pull away though as they outscored Virginia 31-11 the rest of the way for the 70-52 final.
Tyler Zeller led the Heels with 25 points and nine rebounds and Jon Henson added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Virginia fell to 19-5 with the loss, 6-4 in the ACC. The Cavs will stay on the road as they travel to Clemson Tuesday night.
