The initial 53-man roster for the NFL's St. Louis Rams includes a pair of defensive players who were wearing Virginia uniforms last season.
Defensive lineman Matt Conrath and safety Rodney McLeod both survived the Rams' final round of cuts on Friday, putting both players on the team's initial roster for the upcoming regular season. Friday was the day NFL teams had to reduce their rosters to the league's 53-man limit.
Conrath and McLeod both signed with St. Louis as rookie free agents after going unselected in April's draft.
Two other rookies from Virginia -- linebacker Cam Johnson and offensive lineman Austin Pasztor -- were waived on Friday. The 49ers took Johnson in Round 7 of last April's NFL Draft. Pasztor was trying to make the Vikings as an undrafted free agent.
Players can begin signing with NFL practice squads at noon on Saturday.
