The Washington Redskins plan to place cornerback Chase Minnifield on the reserve/physically unable to perform list to open training camp, according to a tweet by ESPN Radio980 in Washington.
Minnifield was signed as a rookie free agent by the Redskins after going undrafted because of microfracture surgery on his knee in January.
He reportedly excelled in Washington's minicamp, with an interception return for touchdown. Defensive Coordinator Jim Haslett was impressed with Minnifield's play and said the Redskins were "lucky" to get him as a rookie free agent with Defensive Backs Coach Raheem Morris adding Washington was "ecstatic" about Minnifield joining the team.
