Reynolds Impressive at UVa's Pro Day

Virginia linebacker LaRoy Reynolds admitted afterward that the anticipation for Tuesday's pro timing day was getting to him a little bit.

"I couldn't sleep for two days, so that was the biggest thing," Reynolds said after his audition for NFL scouts. "But it's just a mindset. It's just like going into a game."

Reynolds was one of a dozen former Virginia players to be measured and tested by NFL scouts on Tuesday. The event was attended by 23 scouts from 21 different NFL teams.

Unlike many of his former teammates, Reynolds didn't get any postseason bowl game invitations, so Tuesday was his first chance to boost his stock in front of NFL eyes. And Reynolds didn't disappoint -- his performance included running the 40-yard-dash in an unofficial time of 4.5 seconds, and he did 28 reps on the bench press.

"When you get an opportunity like this, you've got to make the most of it," said Reynolds, who has gained 13 pounds since the end of last season. "So I feel like I did that."

The biggest draw at this year's pro day was offensive tackle Oday Aboushi, the only Virginia player invited to last month's scouting combine. But he struggled in Indianapolis, including a disappointing 17 reps on the bench press.

Aboushi improved on all of his numbers on Tuesday, including 21 reps on the bench press. Afterward he called his performance "a great day."

"To have another shot at pro day, and be grateful after what happened at the combine, I could kind of redeem myself at pro day," he said. "So I definitely had something to prove at pro day."

Among the crowd of scouts and teammates watching Tuesday's pro day was Virginia head coach Mike London.

"A couple of these guys, I think they made more of a dent in what teams might be thinking about them," London said. "I know they're competing against other places that are having their pro days as well. But these guys, as I said, I think did a good job today."
