Robison Misses Olympic Qualifying by Fractions of a Second

June 29, 2012

Former Virginia standout Scot Robison finished seventh in the men’s 100-meter freestyle final Friday night at the U.S. Swimming and Diving Olympic Trials at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb.

In a final that featured six Olympians from 2008, Robison placed seventh in a time of 48.92. Robison was a 21-time All-American and 17-time ACC Champion for the Cavaliers and represented the U.S. at the 2011 World Championships as a part of the 4x100m relay.

Earlier in the day, Lauren Perdue returned to the pool for preliminaries in the 100-meter freestyle shortly after clinching her Olympic bid in the 200-meter freestyle Thursday night. She clocked a time of 55.97 to place 27th in the event. Perdue is slated to compete Sunday in the 50-meter freestyle preliminaries.

Rising senior Brady Fox led the Cavaliers in the 200-meter backstroke. He recorded a 25th-place finish in a time of 2:02.33.
