Bowen Sargent didn't want to know.

It's probably better he didn't.

Sargent held a nine stroke lead after two rounds of City Championship play at Meadowcreek before stumbling a bit on Sunday.

After two rounds of under-par play, Sargent struggled to a six-over finish but hung on to win his first City title.

"To be honest with you I didn't know where I stood (after Saturday)," he explained. "Didn't watch any of the news, didn't read any of the papers, didn't look at any of the scores. It's kind of a new experiment for me. I tried to take one hole at a time, one shot at a time so it's something I've never really done before. I usually like to know where I stand."

Had he known he led Lance Hoover by nine shots, only to see Hoover get within three shots of the title, who knows what may have happened.

But Sargent righted the ship after a +4 front nine and birdied holes 10 and 18 to hold off Hoover's charge and claim the title.

"It's awesome. Being able to win the City Championship is a pretty cool deal and I'm fortunate enough to be able to hung on and won today," Sargent explained.

Hoover shot a Sunday-best 71 to finish a solid three-day run in second place.

Charlie Wills came in third, 2012 Champ Phil Mahone was fourth and Chuck Crenshaw fifth. All finished nine over for the Tournament.
