Day One of qualifying at the USTA Men's Charlottesville Challenger at the Boar's Head Sports Club saw former Cavlier Sanam Singh and current Virginia freshman Mac Styslinger advance to Sunday play.
Singh knocked off Nicolas Meister, 6-4, 6-4, while Styslinger knocked out Dragos Dimas, 0-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4).
Virginia student and Boar's Head pro Brendan Evans also advanced, downing Luka Gregorc.
Two other Cavaliers, Michael Shabaz and Jarmere Jenkins, weren't as fortunate, however.
Shabaz fell to Eric Quigley while Jenkins was knocked off by Christian Harrison, 6-3, 6-1.
Qualifying action continues Sunday at 10 a.m.
