Stanwick Makes ACC History with Latest Weekly Honor

Since 1986, the ACC had never had anyone win its men's lacrosse player of the week award three times in a single season -- until Virginia's Steele Stanwick changed that on Tuesday.

Stanwick led the Cavaliers with three goals and four assists in last Saturday's 15-10 win at North Carolina. It marked the fourth time he has scored at least seven points in a game this season.

The senior attackman was already the ACC's reigning offensive player of the week, after earning the award on April 2. His first weekly honor from the league came on March 13.

Tuesday's announcement marks the fifth time Stanwick, the reigning Teewaraton Award winner as the best player in college lacrosse, has won the ACC's weekly award in his career.

Stanwick has 17 goals and a league-high 37 assists on the season. His 4.91 points-per-game average is also tops in the ACC, and third in the country.
