The Virginia men's soccer team wrapped up its non-conference schedule with a 3-2 win over Wright State on Tuesday night at Klockner Stadium.
Freshman Marcus Salandy-Defour scored his first career goal and added an assist for the Cavaliers, who improved to 7-6-1 with the win. The Raiders fell to 3-9-1 with the loss.
Virginia erased an early 1-0 Wright State lead when senior Will Bates scored his ninth goal of the season from about six yards out in the 12th minute. Salandy-Defour's go-ahead goal came seven minutes later off a long feed from fellow freshman Zach Carroll, then sophomore Eric Bird scored the eventual game-winner in the 40th minute.
Bates now has 43 career goals at Virginia, placing him seventh on the school's all-time list.
