Top-Ranked 'Hoos Rally to Stay Unbeaten

At halftime of Thursday night's visit to Duke, it looked like the Virginia women's soccer team's unbeaten record -- and top national ranking -- were both in jeopardy.

Instead, the Cavaliers are coming back to Charlottesville with their longest winning streak since 1990.

Virginia rallied for three goals after the break -- including the first of the season from senior Gloria Douglas in the 80th minute -- to beat the Blue Devils 3-2. The Cavaliers -- the last team in the country without a loss or tie this season -- improved to 10-0-0 with the win.

That 10-game winning streak is the second-longest in program history, topped only by the 1990 team that opened the season by winning its first 15 matches.

Morgan Brian scored her seventh goal of the season just two minutes into the second half to get Virginia on the board, and cut Duke's halftime lead in half. Makenzy Doniak scored her team-high ninth goal just two minutes later to tie the match 2-2.

The game remained tied until Shasta Fisher found Douglas in front of the net for the go-ahead goal with a little more than 10 minutes to play in regulation.
