After a 3-2 win Friday night, the No.23 North Carolina (27-10, 6-3 ACC) softball team completed the weekend sweep over Virginia (19-17, 5-7 ACC) with 2-0 and 7-6 wins Saturday in a doubleheader.
In game one Melanie Mitchell threw five perfect innings and allowed just one earned run in the 2-0 defeat. The Tar Heels had just two hits, the Cavaliers tallied four.
In the second game, the Virginia trailed 7-0 entering the final inning before a six-run rally nearly completed the comeback. Erica Cipolloni hit a three-run home run to highlight the inning effort.
Virginia hosts Radford in a doubleheader Wednesday at The Park. The first game is scheduled for 5 p.m.
