The home opener for the top-ranked Virginia baseball team has been moved from Tuesday at 3 p.m. to Wednesday at 4 p.m. because of conditions at Davenport Field. The Cavaliers, who are 2-1 this season, will host in-state foe William & Mary.
"You have to adjust," UVa head coach Brian O'Connor said Monday of the change. "You can't do anything about the weather, it is what it is. You have to make adjustments and play the games when you can. And fortunately William & Mary was also available Wednesday, and it was just an easy move to push the game back a day."
UVa won two of three games to open their season in the Hughes Bros. Challenge in Wilmington, N.C. After dropping their season opener to Kentucky, the 'Hoos topped VMI 12-0 and UNC-Wilmington 7-2. William & Mary is also 2-1 this season.
Fans may bring their tickets to the Davenport Field gate for the same seat on Wednesday, exchange their tickets in advance for a General Admission ticket to any other regular season game by calling the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office. Fans may also bring their ticket stubs to the gate for General Admission seating at any remaining regular season home game, subject to seat availability at the time of arrival.
