The Virginia men's basketball team beat Maryland 61-58 in overtime Sunday at John Paul Jones Arena, despite trailing for most of the game.
Maryland led by as many as 17 in the first half, before the Cavaliers cut the deficit to 13 at halftime and then chipped away in the second half.
Akil Mitchell led Virginia with 17 points and Joe Harris had 15 despite making just 4 of 18 shots. Mike Tobey added 13 for UVa, including a tip-in with 1:46 to play in overtime that gave Virginia the lead for good.
The victory extends the Cavaliers home winning streak to 17, and secures a first-round bye in the upcoming ACC tournament. UVa finishes the regular season 21-10 overall and 11-7 in the ACC.
