The Virginia baseball team has earned the fourth seed in the upcoming ACC Baseball Championship and will begin tournament play at 11 a.m. Thursday against Clemson. The tournament runs Wednesday through Sunday (May 23-27) at NewBridge Bank Park in Greensboro, N.C.
Virginia is joined in Division A by No. 1 seed Florida State, No. 5 Clemson and No. 8 Georgia Tech. Virginia will play Georgia Tech at 11 a.m. Friday and Florida State at 3 p.m. Saturday.
North Carolina is the No. 2 seed and will be joined in Division B by No. 3 NC State, No. 6 Miami and No. 7 Wake Forest.
Under the pool-play format, each team will play one game against each of the other three opponents in its division Wednesday-Saturday (May 23-26). The two teams with the best records within their respective division brackets will advance to the title game on Sunday, May 27, with the winner earning the ACC's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
Game times Wednesday through Saturday are set for 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The championship game will begin at noon Sunday.
Virginia concluded the regular season with a 36-16-1 record, including an 18-12 mark in the ACC as it finished second in the Coastal Division. The Cavaliers won 12 of their final 14 games in the regular season.
UVa is the tournament's reigning champion. The Cavaliers have won three tournament championships - 1996, 2009 and 2011.
