Virginia Earns NCAA Regional Host Nod

The NCAA announced today that Charlottesville, Va., has been selected as one of 16 regional host sites for the 2013 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship. The four-team, double-elimination tournament will run May 31-June 3 at Virginia’s Davenport Field. Two games each will be played Friday (May 31), Saturday (June 1) and Sunday (June 2). If necessary, a single game will be played Monday (June 3). Regional game times will be announced Monday.

Virginia will serve as a regional host site for the fourth-consecutive year and the seventh time in the last 10 years (2004, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013). UVa is one of three schools nationally to host a regional each of the last four years, joining South Carolina and UCLA.

UVa will make its 10th-consecutive appearance in the NCAA tournament and its 13th all-time.

The remaining at-large teams, top-eight national seeds, first-round regional pairings and site assignments will be announced at noon Monday.
