Virginia Men's Tennis Keeps Rolling, Beats Stanford On NTI Day 2

The No. 2 Virginia men’s tennis team continued its quest for an unprecedented fifth consecutive ITA National Team Indoor Championship with a 4-1 win over No. 9 Stanford on Saturday night at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.

Stanford opened the match by winning the doubles point, marking the first time this season the Cavaliers failed to take the opening point. In singles, Virginia rebounded and won five of six first sets to take momentum in the match.

Drew Courtney evened the score as he cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 4 position. Seconds later Alex Domijan gave the Cavaliers the lead with his 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2. Julen Uriguen scored a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 6 to push the advantage to 3-1. Mitchell Frank then sealed the win with a 7-6(6), 6-3 victory at the No. 3 spot.

The win was Virginia’s 94th consecutive home victory and extended its ITA National Team Indoor win streak to 18 matches. The Cavaliers improve to 7-0 on the season with the victory.
