Volunteers Hot Shooting Leads to Rout of 'Hoos

Tennessee scored first and never trailed Monday against the Virginia men's basketball team, as the Volunteers routed UVa 87-52.

The Vols shot 57.7 percent from the field and 8-for-11 from 3 in the first half as they built up a 48-26 halftime lead. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers shot just 32.1 percent for the first half.

Jordan McRae scored 21 points for Tennessee, while Josh Richardson and Jarnell Stokes each added 20. The Volunteers are now 8-4 on the season.

The 87 points scored are the most by a Cavaliers opponent this season. The 35-point loss is the largest for the Cavaliers since losing to Washington 106-63 in 2010.

Justin Anderson led the 'Hoos in scoring for the third straight game, finishing with 11 points, while Mike Tobey added 10.

The Cavaliers wrap up the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 9-4 record. They begin ACC play at Florida State on Saturday Jan. 4.
