The Virginia women's soccer team picked up Friday night where the Cavaliers left off last season at Klöckner Stadium , shutting out Marshall 3-0 for the their first win of the season.
No. 3 UVa has now won its last 19 games at Klöckner, extending the program's record for consecutive home wins. Friday's game marked the season opener for both teams.
The Cavaliers out-shot Marshall 26-1, with three different players scoring UVa's three goals. Makenzy Doniak had the only goal of the first half, with Kaila Torres and Alexis Shaffer each scoring after the break. Morgan Brian assisted on the Wahoos' first two goals.
Lizzie Kish made six saves in net for Marshall, including stopping Brian on a penalty kick in the second half.
