Watford, Cavs Look to Regroup in Bye Week

The Virginia football team will use the first of their two bye weeks this season as a chance to regroup after Saturday's loss to Oregon.

The Cavaliers fell to the Ducks 59-10, giving up 557 yards of offense to Oregon while only putting up 298 themselves. Sophomore quarterback David Watford completed 29-of-41 passes and threw for 161 yards. He also three three interceptions and no touchdowns.

"This will be a good week for us to help him find out what we can do to help him be a better football player," head coach Mike London said of Watford after the game. "After coming out of these two games against two very very good teams, to find out what we can do and how he can help this team."

"David kept his composure throughout," said junior tight end Jake McGee, who caught 8 passes for 53 yards. "He was definitely frustrated like all of us, but I know this is his first year being the starter, but he's a confident and poised guy. It's something you trust him throughout, and it's something that as a whole, we need to get better with."

Freshman quarterback Greyson Lambert entered the game in the fourth quarter, finishing 2-of-6 for 13 yards.

The Cavaliers will next face VMI on Sept. 21 at Scott Stadium.
