The No. 1 Virginia women's rowing team swept their competition back to back days in the UVa Invitational at Lake Monticello this weekend. On Sunday, the Cavaliers won all six races in their final event before the ACC Championships on April 21 in Clemson, S.C.
"We are starting to see some progress in the key boat categories and the athletes are responding to challenging circumstances,” associate head coach Steve Pritzker said. “Our goal continues to be significant success with the end of season performances in mind."
UVa defeated both No. 14 Cornell and No. 19 Minnesota in five races, including the first Varsity Eight, where UVa finished the 2,000-meter course comfortably in 6:29.5. In the second Varsity Eight, Virginia (6:47.4) held off Minnesota (6:50.3) and Cornell (6:51.1).
The Cavaliers open ACC Championships competition on April 21 in Clemson, S.C. and are aiming for their third consecutive conference championship and 12th title in the last 13 years.
