Former University of Virginia standout Bruce Woodall won the eGolf Tour's Spring Creek Classic in a playoff Friday, at the Spring Creek Golf Club.
Woodall and Mikel Martinson were tied at -12 overall after three rounds of play, and entered a sudden-death playoff. After Martinson missed a birdie attempt, Woodall sunk a 15-foot birdie putt to win on the first playoff hole.
The win at Spring Creek marks Woodall's first win on the eGolf Tour.
"Oh it's pretty awesome," Woodall said. "I've been knocking on the doorstep here for a couple weeks. Had a few top fives there in a row and been playing pretty well all year and just kind of staying patient and hoping that I keep getting chances. Coming here and playing here is just really special, especially winning."
Former Cavalier Will Collins shot an even par in the third round and finished tied for seventh at -7 overall.
Weather wreaked havoc on the course, forcing the grounds crew to work diligently to get the course ready for play Wednesday. Afternoon storms during Thursday’s second round forced tournament officials to suspend play for over four hours, which in turn pushed the completion of the round into Friday morning.
