Ryan Zimmerman was named the National League player of the week Monday after going 15-for-30 with five home runs and nine RBIs.
Zimmerman's been on fire in the month of July. He's hitting .414 with nine home runs and is now hitting .273 on the season, which ranks third on the Nationals.
The former Cavalier's season turned on June 24, the day he received a cortisone shot in his shoulder hours before first pitch in Baltimore. Since then, Zimmerman has hit .392/.451/.804 in 113 plate appearances.
