Dan comes to CBS19 from WDIO-TV in Duluth, Minnesota.

Dan Schutte has lived in Central Virginia since the summer of 2006. He is involved in numerous activities throughout the community. Dan is an avid water skier, has run 10 marathons, and has even been talked into several local triathlons. He's also involved in several different local events, such as the MS Bike Tour and numerous fundraising runs. Dan also fancies himself an all-star kickball player.

Dan and his dog, Apollo, love to hit the hiking trails in Central Virginia. Humpback Rocks is one of their favorite spots. They like to go in the morning on week days when it's not as crowded. Apollo needs to be walked every day, and Central Virginia is full of great places to give him some exercise.

Dan comes to the area from Northern Minnesota, where he was an anchor for WDIO-TV in Duluth, Minn. Prior to that, he was a reporter and anchor in Eureka, Calif. During his career, he has covered several national stories and won awards for his work.

Dan is originally from the Minneapolis area. He graduated from American University in Washington, D.C., where he was on the wrestling team, with a degree in broadcast journalism. If you see him out and about, which you probably will, make sure you say hello.
